Activities and Events

Our members have differing degrees of the illness and, while some are bed- or housebound, others are able to undertake slightly more adventurous activities occasionally, although they often have to use disabled equipment or help. The group has several branches across Hampshire which regularly hold meetings for coffee (well, we call them coffee meetings, but we can't remember coffee ever being drunk at one!) and chat, but occasionally special activities are arranged, some of which are described below.

Awareness Days

We organise (whenever possible) awareness days at different locations across the region. Our aims are to increase public awareness of M.E. and to provide details of where appropriate support can be obtained. Details of our forthcoming events for the remainder of 2010 and for 2011 will be posted here shortly.

Chill-outs

We are reintroducing our "chill-out" meetings where members can meet for a gentle leisure activity such as pool or even simply playing silly games at someone's house. These usually take place about once a month on Sunday afternoons.

Bowls

(Postponed from 5th to 26th September).

The next chill-out, weather permitting*, will be bowls at Mayfield Park, Weston, on Sunday 26th September at about 2pm, followed by a picnic. Please bring your own food and drink.

This is lawn bowling, not to be confused with the more boisterous ten-pin variety! The cost is £3.20 per person but there may be concessions for Smart City cards. There is no need to book, and equipment is provided. Please where absolutely flat-soled shoes without any sort of stepped heel. Trainers should be OK as long as the tread is not too chunky.

This activity was originally planned for 5th September but has been postponed to avoid clashes with other trips etc planned by some members.

The green and the car park are at the end of the driveway near the Wright's Hill end of the park; look for the stone gate posts.

* If the weather is wet this activity will have to be cancelled, or replaced with anything we can think of to do indoors at the last minute!
